A trade source, admitting that Bollywood is busy trying out a hundred different permutations and combinations in desperation to turn proposals into projects, said, “Today you don’t need scripts to make a film. You need a hotline to a superstar. Three quarters of Bollywood is sitting home twiddling their thumbs because they have scripts but no star is willing to work with them. The Bollywood top brass is either making films for themselves or their trusted lieutenants. Filmmakers (especially the bigger ones) insist that they only cast after the script is finalised — that’s a whole load of ‘bull’ because very many times reputed filmmakers make combinations in their heads and then go looking for a suitable script.”
