Vipul Shah’s schedules for Action Replay seem to be going away for no fault of any body’s. First it was his principal actors’ choc-a-block schedules that delayed the film. Aamir Khan Resigned From Government Panel
Things took an ugly turn when media reported that at a recent meeting between producers and writers over the issue of royalties, Aamir Khan said that a song’s popularity depends on the star it was picturised on and not on the lyricist’s efforts. This remark offended renowned writer Javed Akhtar who retorted by saying that the song Papa kehte hain became a hit despite the fact that Aamir was not a star at that time.
Media quoted this incident by saying that Aamir was trying to harm the writers by taking away credit from them. This hurt the perfectionist Khan who has now resigned from the 10-member committee formed by the government to look into the proposed amendments to the Copyright Act.
This is an excerpt from what Aamir wrote on Tuesday to Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal.
“It seems to me that there is an attempt by certain people to attack me in public by printing lies about me, thereby turning the attention away from a genuine debate about copyright issues.”.
“I am grateful to you for inviting me to be part of a committee to discuss the various issues regarding amendments to the Copyright Act. However in light of these public attacks on me I don’t think I am comfortable to be part of this committee.”
“I take great pride in my honesty and integrity, and attach an enormous amount of value to my sense of justice and fair play. Monetary achievements have never excited me. If they had, I would have acted in many more than one film a year, thereby being financially much richer than I currently am.”
“Had I been driven by monetary achievements I would not have produced films that challenge the mainstream and break new ground, films like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par and Peepli Live, that most producers would hesitate to produce.
I believe that what I have earned is the love and respect of my colleagues and my audience. And this I have done through my work and through the manner in which I work. This is why such public attacks are most damaging to me emotionally and leave me crippled.”
“In the past 26 years of my involvement with the film industry, I may have made mistakes, but never have I knowingly been dishonest or unfair in my dealings, whether as an assistant director, actor, producer or director.”
“I feel I have a lot to contribute to the ongoing debate but I cannot make any meaningful contribution in this atmosphere. Aggression of this type leaves me feeling very disillusioned and sad and I am unable to function.”
“Therefore I request you to accept my resignation from this committee and please appoint another person in my place.”
“I believe that amendments to the Copyright Act are long overdue and I am so happy that a person like you is spearheading this movement. I believe that the changes that you are bringing about in the sphere of education are so dynamic, progressive and positive, that I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that you will do the same in the field of copyright.”

5 Highest Grossers of 2009
Like every year, this year too some films hits and some misses out. Overall, the year was a fabulous one for Bollywood. It has seen many hits and most importantly some small budget films like 'A Wednesday' and 'Dev D' has done a tremendously good business at the box office.
Films like 'De Dana Dan', Delhi 6, Luck By Chance, What's Your Rashee, Tasveer, Chandni Chowk to China, Kambakkht Ishq, Blue, Main Aur Mrs Khanna etc were badly beaten at the box office. Here the star power cannot show its power. In spite of high publicity, those films failed to stand up to the expectations of the audience. Box Office collection fell down drastically.
The multiplex strike did some damage to the films collection but at the same time the year also saw some fabulous films and has been able to spell magic at the BO.
The films that won the heart of the audience and brought smile to the producers, distributors and boom the box office collection are listed elow.
5. Wanted – Salman Khan starrer and Prabhu Deva directed film 'Wanted' is made on a small budget but in the first week itself it has been able to recover the investment. The film earned Rs 38 crore in the first week.
4.All The Best – The only comic film of the year that could make audience laugh is Rohit Shetty's 'All The Best'. It is a multi starrer film made on a budget of 30 crore but earn Rs 50 crore. It opened up slowly but gradually picked up the pace.
3.Kaminey – Made away from the usual track by Vishal Bharadwaj, 'Kaminey' starringShahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra was one of the hits of the year. Made on a budget of Rs 48 crore, the film has been able to earn Rs.63.75 crore in India.
2. Love Aaj Kal – Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal was one of the highly anticipated movies of the year because of the sizzling pairing of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone and successful director Imtiaz Ali. It was made on a budget of Rs.48 crore but it did business of about Rs.75 crore in its first week itself.Love Aaj Kalwas amongst the best openings of 2009.
1. 3 Idiots – It came at the end of the year but struk gold. It is the biggest hit of the year 2009 and the box office collection records Rs 240 crores and still going strong.Aamir Khan once again proved his potential. Apparently based on Chetan Bhagat's 'Five Point Someone', the film not only invited success but drag some controversies also. The film has done a fabulous business not only in domestic market but overseas also.
Apart from the above mentioned hits, the films that will also be counted among the hits of the year are 'Dev D', 'New York', 'Wake Up Sid', 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' and 'Paa'.
